Those three business listings with the map above them get the bulk of local clicks. Getting in there is mostly grunt work, not magic.
Fill your profile out completely
Primary category matters most. Choose the one that matches your main earner, then add secondary categories for the rest. Fill in services, description, hours, attributes and booking links.
Reviews, steadily
Volume, recency and keywords all count. A review that says fixed our blocked drain in Marrickville helps more than one that says great job.
Reply to every review, good or bad, in a calm tone. Google reads them and so do customers.
Set your service area properly
If you work from a ute rather than a shopfront, hide your address and list the suburbs you cover. Do not list half of Sydney. Google spreads your relevance too thin.
Photos and posts
Upload a handful of job photos each month with your phone. Geotagging is not required. Activity is a signal and most competitors do nothing here.
Consistent details everywhere
Your business name, address and phone number need to match exactly across your site, Google, Facebook, Yellow Pages, hipages and any directory you are listed in. Mismatches hold rankings back.
Suburb pages on your website
Your map ranking is influenced by your website. Genuine suburb pages with real detail about the work you have done there help you show up further from your pin.
